To cancel your license plate or registration, you must come in person to our office and provide identification confirming you are the registrant. You may choose to return the license plate at the time of cancellation, or retain it for use at a later date. The prorated unused portion of the original registration fee, if applicable, will be refunded by mail after deducting a $20.00 Alberta Government administrative processing fee.
If you are out of the province, you can complete this service by mailing the License Plate Cancellation Form along with a copy of your ID and a cheque or money order payable to Lethbridge Registry.
